About us
The Friends of Preston Tower group was launched formally on the 24th June 2024.
It was established with three core objectives, to:

Support and facilitate access to Preston Tower, Doocot and Garden

Engage with the wider community to further awareness of local heritage.

Collaborate with other local and national heritage bodies and organisations to promote local built and cultural heritage.
On the 16th March 2025, the Friends group entered into a formal arrangement with the building owner, that National Trust for Scotland, and the site manager, East Lothian Council, for us to obtain a set of keys to the building to allow us to arrange regular public access to the Tower and Doocot once again after almost half a century of almost total closure.

Access to Local Heritage

We host regular open days and offer small group tours of the Tower and Doocot to foster engagement with its rich history.
Our aim is to create a welcoming atmosphere that encourages local families and visitors to explore and appreciate this unique historic site.
Educational Initiatives
Collaborative Learning
Working with historians, archaeologists and interpretation specialists we continue to explore the and share rich story of this special site.
In the coming months we will work with local schools to provide visits that highlight the importance of heritage preservation and the stories that have shaped our community. These initiatives will be designed to inspire the next generation of heritage advocates.
